Tina Turner, the iconic singer known for her powerful vocals and energetic performances, celebrated her 83rd birthday last weekend. Despite a long and successful career, Turner faced numerous challenges, including a tumultuous marriage with her second husband, which she recently confirmed in an interview.

Born Anna Mae Bullock, Turner’s rise to fame began when she started performing with her then-husband, Ike Turner. After years of success together, Tina embarked on a solo career that produced hit songs like “Private Dancer,” “What’s Love Got To Do,” and “Proud Mary.”

In addition to her music career, Turner has faced health challenges in recent years. She suffered a stroke that affected her ability to use her right hand and speak, and was later diagnosed with intestinal cancer and kidney failure. However, she underwent successful surgeries and received a kidney transplant from her husband, Erwin Bach.

In her book “Tina Turner: My Love Story,” Turner shared her thoughts on mortality and reflected on the ups and downs of her life. Despite the challenges she faced, Turner remains grateful and happy to be alive.

Turner’s love story with Bach has also been a source of joy and happiness for the singer. Following a tumultuous marriage with Ike Turner, Turner didn’t believe in love until she met Bach, a music executive for EMI. The two fell in love and have been together ever since.

As Turner celebrates her 83rd birthday, fans around the world continue to be inspired by her music and her resilience in the face of adversity

After Turner invited him to visit her in the States, she knew that Erwin was the one for her. Describing their love, Erwin said, “It’s an electrical charge. I still have it, even though I left her two hours ago. It’s in my heart, and I feel very warm about this.”

Erwin proposed to Turner on her 59th birthday, but she didn’t immediately say yes due to her past experiences with marriage. “I didn’t have an answer. It wasn’t yes, it wasn’t no.

Marriage implies ownership, and I didn’t want that possessive ‘my’ anything anymore. I had enough of that,” she explained.

After eventually deciding to get married, the couple held their wedding ceremony at their luxurious estate in Switzerland. The bride wore a stunning dress designed by Giorgio Armani, adorned with Swarovski crystals.

When Tina was diagnosed with kidney cancer, Erwin provided her with immense support and made a significant sacrifice for her.

“He told me that he didn’t want another woman or another life. And then he surprised me by saying that he wanted to give me one of his kidneys,” she recounted.

Her fans expressed their well-wishes and were keen to hear updates on her health after she overcame several health issues. Tina shared a video in which she said, “Yes, I made it. I look great. I feel good. I’ve been through some serious illnesses, which I’m overcoming. It’s like having a second chance at life.”
