Governor Gavin Newsom opens up about his wild early years in politics in his new book, “Young Man in a Hurry,” released Tuesday. He shares stories of drunken escapades through San Francisco, indulgent nights of fine wine, and romances with socialites, actresses, and partygoers.
Newsom admits that after his 2005 divorce from Kimberly Guilfoyle, during his tenure as mayor, he did not approach bachelorhood “with discernment.”
In his memoir, Governor Gavin Newsom recounts the late-night routines of his single life. “After a twelve-hour day at work, the single guy showed up at the restaurant bar, ordered a glass of wine, chatted with an old customer, chatted with a new friend, ordered another glass of wine, ordered takeout, went home, and woke up the next morning believing what happened the night before had been a private matter,” he writes.
The book highlights several of Newsom’s past romantic flings but notably omits his brief relationship with Brittanie Mountz, who was 19 at the time while Newsom was 38. Newsom later told The New York Times that the two went on “a few dates.”
