It breaks my heart to think about all the unwanted animals in the world. Thankfully there are animal shelters manned by animal heroes that do everything they can to make life better for an otherwise unloved animal.
Some dogs are lucky and end up in forever homes but others have to spend a long time in shelters, which can often mean being locked up in their own little cell until a home can be found for them, or worse still have to be put down because the shelter can’t cope with the numbers.
For one dog called Benny; it looked like his days were numbered unless a home could be found for him. While he waited he was safe, warm and well fed but ultimately he had to be locked up and must have missed social interaction. Then one day Christmas came early for this sweet dog and when he realizes that his life is about to change his response brought tears to my eyes.
Many of the dogs that end up in dog shelters have experienced heartache and as much as the shelter looks after them, it’s not the same as having a family to care for them. That’s why it’s so beautiful to see a dog finally getting a forever home.
When Pit bull dog Benny arrived at Carson Animal Care Center, in Gardena, California, he was at a high risk of having to be put down.
And the poor dog had no idea what the future held for him.
Benny was blissfully unaware that his days were numbered and stayed in his cage day in, day out.
Nobody wanted to adopt him and staff noticed that his energy and joy were slowly disappearing.
But on December 2017, his life changed forever.
When staff entered his cage with a red rope, he seemed confused and wasn’t sure if he was happy or scared.
But the second staff get the rope around his neck and he comes out of the cage he realizes what is happening. His reaction is causing hearts to melt across the web.
