It doesn’t take long for our pets to become part of our families and work their way into our hearts. They become our constant companions, giving us joy, comfort, and love.
When our pets pass away, it is like losing a member of the family. You miss hearing them patter down the hall and feeling them nuzzle up against you. You expect them to greet you when you walk in the door, only to be reminded once again that they are gone.
When James lost his two dogs, Nemo and Lucy, he was heartbroken. The pair had been his constant companions, and some of the light had gone out of his life since they had passed.
Knowing how much he missed them, James’ family came up with a beautiful surprise for him for his birthday.
As he sat on the couch, his daughter handed him an envelope.
“James,” it read, “your birthday gift is about to arrive.”
She told him to read the card out loud, but when he opened it up and saw a picture of a dog on the front, he instantly broke down in tears. He could barely get through the first sentence, so he handed it to his daughter so she could read it to him.
