Arika told NBC 4 News that she woke up early in the morning to the sound of a dog barking.
She says the dog’s barking got her out of bed because her family doesn’t own a dog. I immediately freaked out and got out of bed to go into the hallway and check the sound.
Erica told the news station, “I get up and walk to my door and the way my house is set up, I can look down the hall. I see a white lady, leaning over the bathtub, with my husband. 2. Year in the tub.”
The woman was later identified as Elizabeth Hickson when she was just 22 years old.
Erica and her boyfriend immediately ran down the hall to the bathroom where we were able to take Erica’s two-year-old to safety and hold the woman until the police arrived.
Hickson insists she was just trying to take care of the baby. According to an affidavit obtained by NBC 4 News, “Ms. Hickson said she entered the dorm to sponsor the event that was taking place outside the dorm.” Hickson’s mother also told the news station that her daughter “means well” and her heart is in the right place.
Naturally, Erica doesn’t hear him. In fact, she wants to bring additional charges against Hickson, who has posted bail. Prosecutors are awaiting next steps until they have the full case.
