Initially resistant to her grandson’s idea, the grandmother remarked, “I told him I’m an old lady. I’m not going to the prom.” Anticipating that he would have numerous attractive dates, she insisted that he should have his pick of the bunch. “He’s handsome, he could take many pretty girls. But he said, ‘No, you’re going,'” she added.
Another concern she had about attending was her lack of familiarity with contemporary dance moves. “Well, I don’t know any new dances, but I plan to do my best,” she admitted.
The proud grandmother disclosed that her grandson’s decision to take her to prom, despite the other options available to him, is something she deeply appreciates. She emphasized that this memory is etched in her mind forever. “For the rest of my life, however long that is, I will never forget that he wanted to bring his Nana and show me a good time,” she shared, expressing awe at the remarkable gesture.
As if taking his grandma to prom wasn’t heartwarming enough, the duo was pleasantly surprised at the end of the night. According to the local news station, Josephine was crowned prom queen. After waiting since 1961, the moment was truly worth it.
