Focusing on what motivates the legs to move in a big transition is music. Listening to it carefully, you’ll notice a jazzy tune called San by California Feetwarmers. You might confuse the song and trace its composition back to ancient times, but the Feetwarmers of California are a musical group, all lively and enthusiastic about hot jazz, blues and ragtime.
The song uplifts your soul and may even have you subconsciously tapping your feet with the songbirds.
The LA Shag team is unmissable because they have incredible and unparalleled dance skills. What’s even more impressive is the team’s ability to stay in sync as a team during the performance.
The team’s moves come in quick succession and, no doubt, only a few people can manage the energy to keep up with them. The Collegiate Shag website says the dance moves seen in the performance date back to the 1930s, requiring a basic jumping routine and high-intensity movement.
One viewer commented, “Wow…10 seconds into this dance, I’ll be on the floor! Cheers to all the dancers!”
The performance was a reflection of when young viewers had energy. It wasn’t necessarily old clothes, shoes and hairstyles but good old dance moves.
Another viewer said: ‘Great dancing – reminds me of when we were teenagers’, while another wrote: ‘Ah to be young again…’
There is no time to get bored in the routine
You’ll be hard-pressed to miss a moment of the LA Shag team’s energized, mix-and-match moves.
They also incorporated humorous breakouts into the dance, such as one where the male members try to steal a kiss from their female counterparts only to receive a slap in response. Another is for the dancers to stand in two lines while jumping with long strides.
One viewer commented, “It’s totally cool and complete. And it looks so much fun. Great job, dancers!!”
Loud applause could be heard from the audience as the team reached the end of the show.
Audiences are intrigued, excited, and satisfied to see how wild it gets in the end. Camp Hollywood has confirmed that the L.A. Shag won an award in the team category in 2014. No wonder they can easily pull off such a performance.
