Angela Bateman, a Burger King employee in Tappahannock, Virginia, had been walking a mile to work every day for seven years after losing her car due to a layoff from her second job. Despite this hardship, Angela never lost her positive attitude, and customers were always greeted with a friendly smile. One of Angela’s regular customers, Candy Cunningham, started a GoFundMe campaign to buy Angela a car, which quickly gained traction. Within two weeks, over 135 people donated over $4,200 to the cause.

Thanks to the generosity of the community, Angela was presented with a low-mileage 2007 Buick after her shift one day in October 2021. Overwhelmed by the gesture, Angela cried tears of joy as she was handed the keys to her new car.

The Tappahannock community had come together to show their appreciation for a woman who had worked tirelessly for years. Angela’s story is a reminder of the impact small acts of kindness can have on someone’s life, and the community’s generosity will undoubtedly have a lasting impact on her.

Angela’s positive attitude and dedication to her job despite facing challenges demonstrate the resilience and strength of the human spirit. The community’s response to her story is a testament to the power of unity and the impact that even small gestures of kindness can have on those around us. Angela’s story is a reminder that no act of kindness is ever too small, and that we can all make a difference in the lives of those around us.
