Most animals would be overjoyed to be rescued from miserable conditions, but Mr. G wasn’t that happy. After being brought to Animal Place’s Rescue Ranch in Grass Valley, California, the poor goat was depressed and refused to eat. People there tried everything to cheer him up but he simply laid down in the corner of his stall with his head drooped down.
He absolutely lost his appetite, special treats didn’t even work out with him. He didn’t eat nor move from his corner for 6 long days.
Looking at him in that condition, we may think that the poor animal has given up on life. The rescue workers got worried about him, they knew they had to do something before it’s too late.
They looked up in his story before rescue and found that Mr. G had been taken away from his best friend of 10 long years. He apparently was overcome with grief over the loss of his best friend, a burro named Jellybean.
The two both had been rescued from abusive situations and had come to rely on each other for support. They spent 10 years together in a 12-foot by 12-foot dirt plot without shade or shelter and hardly any food or water. But now, they were miles apart.
So the volunteers decided to track down Jellybean. A volunteer from Animal Place drove a 14-hour round trip to pick up Jellybean from the other sanctuary for the two friends to reunite, even though they had never looked after a burro before.
Once Mr. G heard the sound of Jellybean being unloaded, the little goat couldn’t believe it! But it took a quick sniff for Mr. G to finally realize that it was truly his long lost friend.
Mr. G hopped up, snorting and sniffing. They headed out to the pasture and began bonding again.
“He had refused to eat for 6 days because he missed his friend,” the organization stated in the video. However, “within 20 minutes of being reunited, Mr. G started eating!”
Blessedly, Jellybean will remain at Animal Place’s Rescue Ranch and the pair will be together for as long as they graze this earth. People are astonished to discover that two totally different animals are such great friends.
They’re also amazed at the incredible bond the two formed and how it took the reunion to save Mr. G’s life. Today, they do not stray more than 10 feet from each other.
What a beautiful story! Watch the pair in action as they reunite after being separated.
