Sabrina la Grotteria was outside near her home in Italy when she saw something that struck her heart, so she pulled out her phone and recorded it. On a road in Vibo Valentia, a man was pushing his dog in a cart, and when they stopped, the older man helped his disabled dog up. The clip is short and far, but the little snippet of their daily routine is the reason for love. As the woman’s video went viral, local media tracked down the man and the dog to learn more about their story. The man’s name is Tonino Vitale, and he’s been walking his 13-year-old dog, Dylan, like this every day since the puppy lost the use of his hind legs to arthritis. “With Dylan, it was love at first sight, from birth,” Tonino Vitale told Il Vibonese, hoping the viral video would send a message. “For us, it’s natural to love Dylan, but we’re happy to share his story with you. It’s a way to educate people about the importance of respecting animals.” A man’s love and compassion for his dog is very evident in his actions. And the world could use more of the two. h / t THE DODO
