Jennifer Pluta was driving past Lake Michigan when a terrifying sight stopped her. she saw a dog run aground right in the middle of a frozen lake, struggling to stay afloat. While Jennifer was tempted to dive into the lake to rescue the dog, she eventually thought it would be wise to call the police.

Due to the emergency call, the cops arrived within minutes and made a team effort to bring the drowning dog back to safety. The dog was heavily disoriented due to hypothermia, so the officers wrapped the pooch up in a blanket and rushed him to the vets.

At the hospital, the vets named the dog “Michigan” and began treating his hypothermia. When his health stabilized, he was handed over to the Wisconsin Humane Society. It was speculated that Michigan was a lost dog, so the local media circulated his extraordinary rescue story in hopes of finding his owner.
