In a recent Channel 5 documentary called “Thomas Markle: My Story,” Meghan Markle’s father, Thomas Markle, shared his thoughts on his daughter and son-in-law, Prince Harry.
Thomas stated that he believed Meghan was “destroying” the royal institution and that she was “tossing away” the dream of being a princess for money. He specifically referenced the £2.4 million spent on renovating Frogmore Cottage, a UK estate owned by Harry and Meghan, as evidence of this.
Thomas also mentioned that he believes Meghan and Harry had an obligation to be a part of the royal family and to represent them. He stated that they are “cheapening” and “making shabby” the royal institution, and that it is “kind of embarrassing” to him.
It’s worth noting that Thomas’ relationship with his daughter, Meghan, has been strained for some time. This is due in part to his actions leading up to her wedding with Prince Harry, including being paid for paparazzi photos and giving interviews in which he spoke negatively about Meghan.
It’s worth noting that the statement made by the late Queen Elizabeth, in which she shared how it was Meghan and Harry’s “wish” that they “repay the Sovereign Grant expenditure for the refurbishment of Frogmore Cottage, which will remain their UK family home.”
