George and Bonnie Miller have spent a long life together and are entering their golden years. That’s when Bonnie’s body started failing for her, and sadly, that’s also when George’s mind wasn’t working like it used to.
Both had just turned 87 and had learned over their years together to depend on each other like most other couples do, according to the Daily Mail.
Sean, the son of George and Bonnie, was very worried about them. He knew they had such deep love and needed to be together. A retirement home was an idea he didn’t even want to understand. It was the last option and it wasn’t really an option in his book.
Bonnie fell and unfortunately suffered a broken shoulder. It was then that their son and wife Jenny began looking for other options for their living situation.
They started looking for a house that would include the husband-in-law’s suite. Most of the time, in-law suites are small in the suites of a single family home or it can be a small building very close together on the same property. This makes observing an elderly person much easier.
The problem was that they couldn’t find a house that was exactly what they were looking for. Then they had an idea, an idea that would melt your heart.
They decided to do some renovations in their homes. They demolished the walls of the basement which served as a recreation room. They cut out all their games and activities that were part of their normal life. This includes a karaoke machine and even a pool table.
They made some sacrifices but knew it was worth more than that. The whole basement has been turned into a suite for Shaun’s parents. They even went so far as to provide her with everything she needed.
