Ashlee Holland has always felt passionate about animals and animal rescue. A mom herself, she instantly felt a connection to Ava, a heavily pregnant golden chow mix.

Since Ava had been placed on the euthanasia list at a local shelter, Ashlee knew she was the poor dog’s last resort.

“No dog deserves to be put to sleep for space,” she told FOX4.

Ashlee knew Ava was pregnant, but the X-rays didn’t show just how many puppies she was actually carrying. Ava went into labor less than two weeks after Ashlee brought her home.

“First puppy came out at 10:02,” Ashlee said. “She then popped up four more within 57 minutes. She had two more in the next hour and a half or so. I thought she was done.”

So, Ashlee cleaned Ava off and went to bed — but woke up the next morning to a jaw-dropping surprise.

Watch the video below to find out just how many more lives Ashlee saved by bringing Ava home. This is amazing.
