This German shepherd named Maverick was devastated when he was left at the Carson Animal Shelter in Gardena, California by his family.

The 8-year-old was heartbroken and refused to make eye contact with anyone in the shelter. But when a loving family laid eyes on him, they knew they had to take him home and make him a part of their family.

Luckily for Maverick, that home is a farm and the family is a big one — full of horses, goats, chickens, and dogs for him to befriend and play with.
