Philip Springer, the iconic American composer known for creating the Christmas hit “Santa Baby,” surprised his daughter with a beautiful performance of Beethoven’s “Moonlight Sonata” on her birthday. Springer, who is 94 years old, proves that age is just a number as he flawlessly plays the classic composition on the piano in a heartwarming at-home performance captured on video.

Springer’s musical genius extends beyond “Santa Baby,” as he has composed for almost two dozen Broadway musicals, including “The Bells of Notre Dame,” which is based on Victor Hugo’s famous novel “The Hunchback of Notre-Dame.” Tamar Springer, Philip’s daughter, is the Executive Director of Tamir Music, the publishing entity that has produced and owned the majority of his life’s work.

Tamar Springer had hoped to produce a live performance of “The Bells of Notre Dame” in 2020, but the pandemic halted those plans. Nonetheless, she continues to be passionate about her father’s work and musical talents, as demonstrated in his touching performance of “Moonlight Sonata.”

This video serves as a reminder of the timeless beauty of music and the incredible talents of Philip Springer, who continues to inspire and move audiences with his compositions. If his performance brought a smile to your face, be sure to share it with someone else who could use a bit of musical joy
