Amazingly, Alison swam past her mother to the bottom of the deep pool and pushed her into the shallow water. Once she arrived, she was able to turn her mother over so that her face popped out of the water. With her mother out of immediate danger of drowning, Alison ran home for help.
One of Tracy’s sisters, Tidra Hunt, was walking home when the accident happened. Alison told her about the situation and Tedra called 911 before running to see her sister.
Tracy was transferred to CHRISTUS Spohn Corpus Christi-Memorial Hospital in Corpus Christi, Texas. Tracy woke up there and couldn’t remember anything that happened. But the whole incident was captured on video by home security cameras. Needless to say, Tracy was a proud and grateful mom.
Tedra actually told Inside Edition that the doctors explained to them that Alison had saved her mother’s life; If she had been underwater longer, she probably sank. Tidra was surprised that Alison was able to move her mother as she is rather young at the age of five. Alison called her guardian angel.
Alison’s bravery and quick-wittedness should not be underestimated, but this incident shows the importance of teaching children to swim early too. The family said Allison’s swimming strength came from swimming proficiently since she was a little girl.
