After she finished her work at Alexandria Avenue Elementary School in Los Angeles, Adrienne Young was on her way home when she suddenly heard the screams of a little girl.. Her words left her frozen in shock.
The girl cried, “Please don’t let her take me.” “I don’t know her. She’s not my mom!”
Adrian looked up and noticed a woman trying to drag the 8-year-old away.
You immediately rush to do the right thing.
“I went into mommy mode,” she said, “because I couldn’t see myself letting this little girl be taken.”
The woman who tried to kidnap the child was very big and old. Since Adrian is only 4 feet 8 inches tall, it was hard to face her but she didn’t hesitate a second and told the little girl to hold her as hard as she could.
Adrian said, “I just told her to grab me as hard as she could, and I held on and the lady started attacking me, so I thought about attacking her to make sure she couldn’t stand this little girl.”
The woman who sees Adrian is not willing to let it go. She released the little girl and she ran away. Fortunately, the police managed to catch her. The 50-year-old Maria Ramirez was charged with a felony count of kidnapping.
Thanks to Adrian who is now being praised for her heroic act, the little girl is able to return to her family unharmed.
Adrienne was honored by Los Angeles City Councilman Mitch O’Farrell at a public event, saying, “Sometimes superheroes come in small groups. Because of her diligence, her training and her awareness, and because she cares so much about children, she prevented what could have been a child kidnapping.”
The girl’s mother, Sharon Arellano, will forever be grateful for Adrienne’s courage and selfless disposition towards her little daughter.
“Without her, I wouldn’t know where my daughter would be now,” she said.
Sharon and Adrian fight for the school to implement stricter safety measures, so nothing like this will happen again.
