“I’m determined to go through with this commitment ceremony, to demonstrate my devotion to Lumiere and the longevity of my love,” Liberty expressed to the Mirror.
“I understand that many people find my attraction to chandeliers peculiar, but I assure you, I’m not irrational,” she continued. “I’ve been diligently polishing Lumiere each night to ensure she looks her best.”
Liberty identifies as an “objectum sexual,” someone who experiences romantic attraction towards objects. Health Guidance.org defines Objectum Sexuality (OS) as “an unusual psychological phenomenon in which an individual feels profound affection towards a specific inanimate object – essentially falling ‘in love’ with it, whether it’s a particular table, a train, or a door.”
“Some objectum sexual individuals believe their partners communicate with them, but I recognize that Lumiere expresses itself differently,” Liberty clarified, explaining that Lumiere “emits energy” to convey its feelings towards her.
It’s important to note that Liberty isn’t her birth surname but one she adopted from a previous relationship with the Statue of Liberty. According to the Mirror, Amanda was deeply enamored with the statue, whom she affectionately refers to as “Libby,” but the long distance made their relationship challenging to maintain.
“People often struggle to grasp that this is simply my natural orientation,” Liberty emphasized. “I’m hoping that by doing this, people will come to understand our love, and if not understand it, perhaps they could at least accept it.”
While a Truly video from 2022 suggests that Liberty hasn’t yet married her chandelier, only time will reveal the outcome
