In 2014, an adoption coordinator at SPCA did something that that ended up wowing everyone. In fact, it wasn’t her doing. It was the cat’s!
When Debra Cantwell and her team bumped into 2 abandoned puppies, they got an idea. Apparently, their dog mother had abandoned them after she gave birth to a litter of 4 and 2 of them passed away due to premature birth. However, Debra had something to try, and so she did!
“We had a little Chihuahua that was very pregnant and had her babies prematurely. She uh… two of them didn’t make it, but she didn’t want the other two. So we had a nursing cat upstairs and had newborn babies, so we took the puppies, put them on her to see if she liked them, and she loved them,” says Cantwell.
She took the two little pups to the cat upstairs, she hoped that she would accept them as her own babies. Then things changed quite fast. The feline instantly fell for the two Chihuahuas and immediately adopted them as her own. She nursed and cared for them from that moment on. You need to witness that epic moment right now!
It was heartwarming to see that a Siamese cat, with no relation to the Chihuahua dogs, was caring enough to take care of them as if they were her own children.
See how she reacts to the pups’ presence. You can see from the look in her eyes that she wished for this. She’s going to be one heck of a mama to these little dogs. That’s awesome!
It’s so lovely to see animals from different species being so affectionate.
