One of the worst days of your life is losing a spouse, especially someone who has been with you since your teenage years.
Vader and Nigel Fitton have been married for decades and have known each other since they were 16 years old. Vader, at the age of 69, died of cancer. Huffpost reported that this left Nigel alone and a widower.
Nigel was completely destroyed by his death. He couldn’t imagine that his life would go on without her.
Before he died, Vader asked him to do something for her.
I pleaded with him, “Please water the plants in my bathroom after I leave.” Nigel promised him he would. It might have sounded like a strange request, but he would have done anything for her.
Day after day, Nigel continued to water the plants in the shower. He never failed his late wife
Their children often reflected on Phèdre and what a wonderful mother she was. They remembered his wonderful sense of humor. She had no problem playing pranks on anyone, including her family (especially her husband).
Nigel’s daughters noticed he was watering the plants, although the water sometimes overflowed from the pot and leaked onto the bathroom floor! He found it strange, but then again, he never failed his wife.
Sometimes the puddles were so bad that Nigel worried if there was a leak in the bathroom. He thought it might be the toilet, but he couldn’t find the leak anywhere!
The plants were still green and lush like the day Nigel started watering them. Nigel felt a sense of accomplishment in keeping his wife’s plants alive. He also felt good about keeping his promise to her, and when he decided to leave, five years after her death, he brought the plants with him to his new home.
That’s when he found out that plants have been plastic this whole time! Vader pranked him again, this time from the grave!
Nigel wasn’t upset at all. One of the reasons he fell in love with Phèdre was her great sense of humor. He’s been wondering why plants look so perfect all this time!
