It was just a typical working day for Joanne Lesser, who had worked as a waitress at the Crystal Cafe for 20 years. Although nothing seemed out of the ordinary, it only took a moment for everything to change. The situation started when the couple entered the small establishment for breakfast.

Because it was a Saturday morning, the Crystal cafe was hopping and hopping. Although Joan was busy with her clients, she noticed a woman getting up from her table and rushing to the bathroom. From what she noticed, Joanne thought maybe she was sick. But after only 15 seconds, the woman opened the door and started shaking her hands frantically. In an instant, Joanne knew something was seriously wrong with the client – she was choking.

Without thinking, Joan rushed over to the woman and spun around her, seeing “panic in her eyes” as she struggled to breathe. Then the waitress started the Heimlich maneuver and admitted it was only due to what she saw on TV.

After two powerful pushes, the suffocating woman was able to spit out her food and inhale the air. It all happened so quickly that no one had time to call 911! Joanne became a hero that day, but she has an important message for everyone. Watch the KARE 11 news video below to hear what it’s all about and find out more about this great story!
