Skevington expressed that his sole intention was to bring a smile to Harry’s face after the heartbreaking loss he endured. He emphasized that the joy wasn’t confined to Harry alone but extended to himself and the entire Durham Police team.
“After learning about what Harry had gone through last year, we simply wanted to bring a bit of cheer and make him smile. We did a few laps of his cul-de-sac, took some photos, and gifted him a few mementos, including his own Durham Roads and Armed Policing badge for his police vest,” Skevington shared, as reported on the Durham Police’s official website.
“He had a fantastic time – and so did we. It’s heartwarming to do something nice for someone who has faced such a tough time, especially at such a young age,” Skevington added.
Emma expressed her joy for the surprise her son received from the Durham Police. “It was such a delightful surprise for him; he was completely taken aback when all the officers showed up. Leading them around our street and taking pictures with them brought him so much joy,” Emma said.
Harry, originally aspiring to become a teacher, expressed a new ambition to become a police officer after the memorable encounter.
