The children recently adopted by Lamont are ages 5, 4, 3, 2 and 1. Before this adoption, the single father had seven other children. This is in addition to the dozens of foster children he has cared for over the past 19 years.
Lamont’s journey to parenthood began in 2000 when he became an adoptive parent to care for a friend’s special child. Lamont’s offspring include his two biological children, Anthony and Lamonica.
In 2007, Lamont adopted twins Germaine and Tremaine, followed by Jamie and German. After these four adoptions, Lamont adopted Michael, the first child he had ever welcomed.
Lamont never neglected a child. Either he keeps them until they grow up out of the system or are able to return to their families, or he adopts them himself. Lamont thought he was done adopting children until he discovered that the children of one of his former adoptees needed to be taken away to avoid separation.
Zendaya, 5, Jamal, 4, Nakiye, 3, Major, 2, and Michaela, 1, were separated in four homes. This broke Lamont’s heart and he was determined that the siblings could stay together.
Young children bring a lot of energy to Lamont and he is very happy to be able to provide for them. We hope her story will inspire others to think about caring for children in need
