While Violet’s feet grace the dance floor, her agile fingers traverse the neck of her fiddle. Violet has devoted years to mastering this cherished Ozark instrument. Inquired about her passion, she simply states, “Once I start, I just can’t bring myself to stop.”

Violet derives as much satisfaction from crafting fiddles as she does from playing them. She dedicates substantial time to delicately bending, carving, and assessing her new creations within her kitchen. Despite her diminishing eyesight, Violet’s decades of experience grant her the ability to forge a fiddle purely through touch.

A handful of years ago, a spirited 99-year-old dazzled a crowd with her bluegrass rendition of “Angelina Baker.” The band struggled to keep pace, for the musical prowess of the Grand Ole Opry’s ensemble had met its match
