Justin M. Lewis and Luke Spring, a remarkable teacher-student pair, have captivated audiences with their tap dancing skills for several years. Their partnership began in 2009, and they have since become a dynamic duo that leaves spectators in awe.
A Passion Ignited: From an early age, Justin M. Lewis knew he wanted to be a dancer. The movie Tap, which he watched with his grandfather at the age of five, sparked his passion for the art form. Justin’s talent and creativity in choreography earned him numerous accolades, including a nomination for “Best Tap Routine of the Year” in 2014. He also had the privilege of having his choreography performed at the esteemed “Young Choreographers Festival” in 2015.
The Prodigy Meets the Mentor: When Justin first encountered Luke Spring, a prodigious dancer from Ashburn, Virginia, he pondered the age-old question: “How do I teach a prodigy and make him better than he already is?” Luke, who discovered his passion for dance while visiting his older sisters’ studio, has established himself as one of the finest dancers in North America at the age of 17.
A Captivating Performance: Clad in matching outfits of white button-downs, black pants, and black ties, Justin and Luke took the stage at the 2011 D.C. Tap Festival. The impeccably dressed gentlemen greeted each other with a handshake and embarked on a mesmerizing routine that instantly had the crowd cheering.
Teamwork in Action: Around a minute into their performance, the duo engaged in a call-and-response segment, using their taps as a means of communication. Despite dancing alongside his older teacher, Luke managed to impress with his skillful moves, earning recognition for his outstanding performance. The collaboration between master and protégé showcased their remarkable teamwork
