Even though it was risky, Jeff was willing to risk his life and possibly fall if the dog was to be saved. Taking baby steps across the ice, Jeff began to throw the rope towards the struggling dog, hoping to catch the rope. As unlikely as it may sound, the only hope was to save the animal.
After five unsuccessful attempts, Jeff gave the rope one last time. This time the dog was able to grab the rope in its mouth and hang on to it, clinging to its dear life. Jeff gave the rope a jerk and pulled the dog to a safe place where he could help it dry off and give it the support it needed to survive.
It turned out that the drowned dog belonged to Jeff’s neighbor and often played with Jeff’s dog. So far, Jeff told News-Leader he was amazed the animal knew he was holding the rope and hanging onto it while Jeff pulled it to safety.
We are so happy that this brave man was ready to do whatever it took to save this dog’s life! But we want to warn our readers that it’s important to ask for help if they come across a similar situation.
