King Charles Shares Cancer Treatment Advice with Student

During the Education and Skills Garden Party at Buckingham Palace on May 14, King Charles III, 76, offered words of support to a student undergoing cancer treatment.
Speaking with 22-year-old Stamford Collis from Exeter University, who is currently in treatment, the King shared that diet “can help,” referencing his own experience with cancer care.

Known for his healthy eating habits, King Charles has long favored simple, seasonal food from royal estates. His stepson, food writer Tom Parker Bowles, described the royal diet as full of “game, beef, lamb, peas, strawberries, raspberries, and chard,” with no waste at the King’s table.

The monarch, who was diagnosed with cancer in February 2024 after a procedure for an enlarged prostate, returned to public duties in April after a three-month break. Although not prostate cancer, doctors discovered the illness during his hospital stay. Treatment is ongoing, with the palace describing his progress as positive despite minor setbacks, including a brief hospitalization in March.

This was King Charles’ second garden party of the season, attended alongside Queen Camilla, as he gradually resumes more public engagements while continuing his care.
