When Cydney caught the flu at 33 weeks pregnant, it was time to give birth. The twins were born on January 24, 2019 and spent time in the neonatal intensive care unit.
Twelve days after giving birth, Sydney receives a special surprise from the nurse: her husband. A family member captured the entire ordeal on camera: As Cydney cuddled one of her children, Skyler was seen sneaking up on her from behind, carrying a beautiful bouquet of flowers.
The surprise must have meant a lot to her, as Cydney described the experience as stressful. With twins in the NICU and two sons at home, Cydney was, in her words, “hanging by a thread”. She told Good Morning America that she misses her husband more than ever.
One day, Cydney was exhausted in the hospital to visit her little girls. I got a text from Skyler asking how the twins were doing.
At this time, he entered the hospital room with flowers and American flag balloons. Cydney couldn’t believe it. I burst into tears. Sydney told Good Morning America she was shocked and relieved.
Now that Skyler is back, he and Sydney can extend the surprise a bit longer. Their two sons were overjoyed when they learned that their father had returned home.
Cydney posted about the reunion on Facebook. She shared her ‘One Year Crazy’ stats. Cydney measured it this way:
“Thousands of miles, one solo haul and delivery, 48,392 Skype calls, superheroes, a few flights, 12 days since NICU, tons of help from family and friends, and so many tears …”. She wrote that after all this, her soldier finally came home.
