Anxiety persists in the Vatican. Pope Francis’ health has not shown clear improvement, although there has been some stability in recent hours. The 88-year-old Pontiff remains hospitalized due to bilateral pneumonia, a condition that complicates his recovery due to his advanced age and preexisting health issues.

The Holy See has released the latest medical report, stating that the Pope is in good spirits and carefully following the doctors’ instructions. However, his prognosis remains delicate.

A Battle Against Illness
Francis was admitted to the hospital after several days of visible concern regarding his condition. His medical history is not encouraging: years ago, he underwent surgery on a lung, which worsens his current situation. Nevertheless, Vatican sources insist that despite the complexity of his case, the Pope is stable and responding to treatment.

The latest official statement indicates that “the night passed peacefully, the Pope got up and had breakfast in a chair,” suggesting slight improvement. Additionally, he has now spent two consecutive nights with relative stability and, while he requires oxygen, he is not intubated and retains enough mobility to move from his bed to a chair.

Silence and Caution in the Vatican
The medical team treating him has avoided making predictions about his recovery or the possibility of hospital discharge in the short term. Meanwhile, Vatican institutions remain discreet, only issuing official statements with precise information.

One of the latest reports detailed that “the polymicrobial infection developed on a condition of bronchiectasis and asthmatic bronchitis, requiring the use of antibiotics with cortisone, making treatment more complex.” Even so, the Pope remains in good spirits, has received the Eucharist, and alternates resting with reading texts.

Medical Opinion: A Delicate Situation
Dr. César Carballo, in a television appearance, explained the severity of the case: “At 88 years old, mortality increases significantly with this type of condition. He already showed signs of breathing difficulties and clearly needs oxygen.” He also noted that prolonged corticosteroid use can have adverse effects and that the Pope’s infection is caused by multiple bacteria, making treatment more challenging.

Despite the complexity of his condition, the Supreme Pontiff remains in good spirits and continues to fight. The situation remains delicate, but hope is not lost. The Vatican trusts that medical efforts will lead to his recovery.
