MMA had his wedding shoes to personalize but unbeknownst to him, his sick mother left an honest secret message on the pair of shoes before she died.

The Leicestershire woman got engaged in 2016. A month later, her mother was diagnosed with terminal cancer.

Emma had hoped her mother would attend her wedding in August, but sadly passed away in 2017.

Before her mother’s death, Emma placed an order on the Love and Lace online store to customize her wedding shoes and paid the deposit.

When she received the wedding shoes last week, she discovered that her mother had already paid for the shoes and even secretly left her a message written on the soles of her shoes.

The heartfelt message read, “I wanted you to receive a gift from me on your wedding day. Your wedding shoes are my gift to you. Hope you have a magical day. Lots and lots of love and big hugs, mom xxxx”

Emma was in shock when she discovered the surprise. “I took the sole of the shoe out and saw part of the message and couldn’t think of who it was.”

When she realizes it’s from her late mother, she gets emotional. “I started crying…I was in completely small parts. I couldn’t breathe, I couldn’t speak.”

Before her mother’s death, she wrote letters to her family members but Emma never received them. “I haven’t received a message, I’m out of time. It’s very special for me,” Emma said.

Lace and Love store owner Amanda Wise said Emma’s bridal shoes were the most sentimental pair she had ever made. “Probably the most sentimental pair of shoes I’ve ever made,” Amanda said.

“It was her mother who told me that she had cancer and that she would not be there on Emma’s wedding day. She told me in the first letter she sent me .”

“His mom emailed me and said she wanted to pay for the shoes. I said, ‘Well, I’ve already paid for half of the shoes?’

I knew she was sick at the time. I think Emma was hoping to see the wedding. From the letter she wrote, I think she intended it to be after she left.

“Hopefully that will ease her up for the day. It would be like walking down the aisle with her mom,” Amanda said.
