Brave grandma litteraly takes off shirt from her back to save burned and screaming koala from raging wildfire

Australia’s “catastrophic” and deadly wildfire emergency continues to rage,  homes and businesses have been destroyed, farmland has been ravaged and people have lost their lives during this devastating event.

Not only this, the animals have been affected by the fires. According to CBS, dozens of koalas have been injured in Australian fires in only one month, which threatens the existence of the species.

In the video below, a helpless koala is seen trying to survive in the middle of burning forest, until a heroic rescuer stepped in to save the animal’s life.

With no where else to go, the poor creature had climbed up a tree to take refuge from the smoldering brush as the flames engulfed him.

The brave woman, named Toni Doherty risked her life by taking her shirt and running towards the poor animal, she used the shirt to hold and cover the injured koala. What a selfless act!

Toni stopped her car, and as the video shows, literally took the shirt off her back and ran right into the flames to save the crying koala. By the time she pulled him off the tree, yelping and whimpering from the pain, his paws and nose had already suffered bad burns.

After pouring water on him, Toni rushed him to a nearby animal sanctuary, where he is currently in recovery and receiving “five-star service.”

The koala has been named Louis after one of Toni’s seven grandchildren.

See the incredible and selfless rescue in the video below.

I think this woman is one brave hero. Not only did she rush to save the Koala, but also gave it the shirt from her back in a bid to keep it safe from the flames.
