When you leave the house or your car, it is best to leave all doors closed and make sure there is no trash or food inside. The best rule of thumb is to avoid leaving any food out, even if it’s trash.
Even things like this don’t guarantee that a bear won’t scrub your standards. In North Carolina, a bear opened a couple’s pickup truck and got inside. The worst part is that they accidentally locked him inside because they realized the door was open. The bear was so scared that he destroyed everything inside.
Another story from Breckenridge, Colorado, where Kate Siegel came home and left a pack of rubber bears in her car. She forgot she hadn’t locked the car doors, and a surprise was waiting for her when she got home.
When she came back in the morning, she saw that the car door was open as well as the garage door. She found her car completely destroyed. It wasn’t long before I realized the bear was the culprit. She thinks it was the gummy bears that caught her attention, CBS Denver reported.
The garage door was accidentally opened by a bear that stepped on the garage door opener in the car. Fortunately, Siegel had no litter inside the garage that would lure the bear inside and leave his garage in the same state. Further evidence of its presence were neighbors’ inverted litter boxes.
This story will never be forgotten by Kate Siegel. There will be time before she forgets something to eat in her car, especially in early spring when hungry bears are hiding.
