Antonio Banderas reflected on his experience working with Nicole Kidman in *Babygirl*, where they portray a married couple whose relationship is shaken when Kidman’s character, Romy, embarks on an affair with a young intern, played by Harris Dickinson.

In a recent interview with *PEOPLE* magazine, the Spanish actor recalled his first encounter with Kidman in 2003, when she attended his Broadway performance in *Nine*. He expressed deep admiration for her career and accomplishments.

“I’m a huge admirer of hers. She’s one of my all-time favorite actresses. I admire and respect her, and now, after working together, I believe we’ve built a beautiful relationship. Sharing this film with her was truly special,” he said.

Banderas also acknowledged the complexity of the project and the high level of commitment it required from the entire cast and crew. However, he described working with Kidman as a rewarding experience and made a conscious effort to ensure she felt comfortable on set.

“It was a very challenging film—demanding for everyone, from the director to the actors—and we were all aware of that. You have to approach it the right way. Fortunately, working with Nicole was effortless. She was incredibly dedicated, kind, generous, and highly professional. She made me feel safe, and I tried to do the same for her, especially in the more intense scenes,” he explained.

Banderas also praised Harris Dickinson, with whom he shared a physically demanding confrontation scene. He noted that they had to be extremely precise to avoid real injuries.

“We were both very careful—how to throw a punch, how to grab, how to fall, how to climb onto tables, how to break furniture. It was great working with him. He has an amazing sense of rhythm, and I felt completely safe with him,” he shared.

The actor also emphasized that everyone involved in *Babygirl* understood the weight of the story they were telling.

“We knew this film would spark debate—both in favor of and against the characters. So we were prepared, and everyone committed fully to what was needed to bring the director’s vision to life. I’m very proud to have been part of this project,” he stated.

Speaking with *Yahoo Entertainment*, Banderas responded to criticism about his character, who some viewers perceived as “too passive” in the face of betrayal. Despite this, he remains proud of the film’s message.

“I’m really happy I took on this role. And of course, I’m 64 now—I’m not the young guy I used to be, and I love that. I feel comfortable aging and no longer needing to be the guy who wins over everyone. But even for my character, there’s a lesson to be learned. By the end of the film, the choices he makes… they’re powerful,” he reflected.

Beyond *Babygirl*, Banderas stars in a Bosch commercial set to air during the fourth quarter of *Super Bowl LIX* on February 9. The event will be broadcast on *Fox* and available for streaming on *Tubi*. According to him, his German girlfriend was the first to suggest he take the opportunity.

“She said, ‘This is a huge German company—you should do it.’ Then I read the script and thought, ‘Wow, I could add a lot of comedy to this.’ And she was right! There’s a clever twist in the ad. It’s airing during the Super Bowl, which, as Steven Spielberg once told me, is ‘the Oscars of commercials.’ Some of them are like mini-movies,” he said.
