Actor Antonio Banderas has expressed concern over the widespread misinformation circulating on social media about the Los Angeles wildfires, which have destroyed hundreds of homes and caused the deaths of around 30 people.

“We are living in a time where it’s hard to distinguish truth from falsehood,” the Málaga-born actor stated during the annual gala of the Academy of Performing Arts at Valladolid’s Calderón Theater a few days ago.

Having spent decades living in the U.S. and regularly returning for work, Banderas lamented the rampant speculation surrounding these devastating fires.

“People are making all sorts of claims, from suggesting the fires were caused by radiation from new weapons launched by an unnamed enemy to blaming extraterrestrials—and everything in between,” Banderas told reporters, visibly frustrated.
