The compassion, patience, and unwavering commitment required from educators towards their students are qualities often beyond measure. However, it is disheartening that in the TikTok video in question, the students collectively pushed their teacher to her breaking point.
Amidst the laughter of the students, the teacher’s frustration erupted as she exclaimed, “And people are laughing! I’m gonna go, I don’t even care if I don’t get paid today. I’m just a stupid old white lady, that’s all,” while gathering her belongings from the desk.
Despite assuming she was jesting, the students continued to laugh at her distress. Undeterred, she declared, “Yeah. Do whatever you want to do, I don’t care. I’m gonna do it anyway.”
Their surprise mounted as she proceeded to storm out of the classroom, reiterating, “I’m walking. I’m walking right out the door. I won’t ever be back.”
Upon the video’s circulation on Facebook via News.com.au, numerous internet users expressed disappointment towards the students’ behavior.
“Teachers used to be treated like our 2nd parents. It breaks my heart to hear so many teachers are leaving this profession,” shared one user.
“Students and kids are so hard on teachers and disrespectful nowadays. They take for granted all the beautiful things school teaches and gives us. Free education, socialization, friends, food, breaks, support. The list goes on, yet kids are still disrespectful to teachers. It’s a shame honestly, I’m ashamed in the society we have become globally,” commented another.
