When Chelsea Bell Lantrip scored her quarterback tank at Chances Dance Hall in Cleburne, she didn’t expect the good luck that would come later that day.
She told NBC News that “two random girls” she had never seen at the bar walked into a crowd of regulars. One of the women ordered a round of drinks for everyone on the dance floor.
The woman then paid Bell $1,000 on a $179 bill.
“She started crying and [then said] ‘No, that’s not good enough’ and took it to $2,000,” Bell said.
When Belle goes to retrieve the receipt later, she sees that the woman finally left a $4,000 tip.
“I didn’t believe it until it went through the credit card machine, and I still didn’t believe it until I got to the bank,” she said. .
Belle is a single mom whose son is going to Texas A&M in the fall. She plans to use the money to help pay her school fees, pay some bills, and take her aunt and grandma out for a nice dinner.
“It’s a gift from God, Bell said. I believe in guardian angels, I believe in people coming into your life at the right time when you need them. And she was definitely one of them.”
