Cheryl cried and cried. She was stoned. Who would not be ? A new SUV is an expensive gift!
But that’s not the whole story. Look, Cheryl’s husband is currently unemployed due to cancer and lupus.
In addition, her car broke down and she had to borrow a car from relatives to operate it. She works several jobs in addition to her schoolwork trying to make ends meet in the face of the family’s current difficulties.
She herself is a cancer survivor. She also has a surgery appointment over Christmas vacation because she can’t take a day off. She was already due to leave school when the school was closed this week. She herself is therefore not in good physical shape.
For Cheryl and her husband, this is a well-deserved break from a life that was currently an “I can’t have a break” situation. A reliable transmission has a huge practical benefit, and knowing that there’s someone in the world who really cares is a huge psychological boost.
There are many people who struggle to make ends meet. Unfortunately, there are plenty of shocking stories about “the most festive place in America” that revolve around venues that were decorated to last.
Usually it’s not about where someone with money decides to really play Santa for people in need.
But this is the exception. This is not a one-off incident. Cheryl is one of many needy people in the community who are receiving much-needed Christmas cheer to help her live a better life for the foreseeable future.
