It all starts with an indifferent warm-up with his trainer and spectators observing his skills. The high bar itself stood 9 feet off the ground, a frightening distance considering a 13-year-old swinging on it. When he circles in the air and then grabs the rod, the descent begins.
Who saved the day? His coaching name is Cal Booker. It was the clever impostor of the T-shirt. His work at the New England Gymnastics Academy took a harrowing turn because of the terrible moment, but luckily Cale managed to catch the teenager in a split second before he hit the floor.
Cal explained the crash to WBZ-TV, as reported by Breitbart: “The bar is nine feet high and it swings. It adds an extra two feet. If it lands on your head, it could be disastrous.”
Noah himself had his own hand in defining the event, telling CBS, “When I first jumped, I felt like the grip was a little slippery. Everything I I was trying to do was flip the floor and land on my back – not on my neck. Landing on my back is way better than landing.” on my neck.”
The video that ended up going viral is a music video recorded by Noah’s mother. She could have recorded the moment her son suffered a catastrophic injury or worse, but she never expected such a moment to happen. By all other accounts, it was just a normal warm-up, and it was going great.
As you’d expect, Noah is very grateful that his coach was there to save the day. If his coach hadn’t been there, Noah said in the same CBS interview, “I would have had a problem. You have to trust your coaches.” That confidence is something many gymnasts have recognized over the years, but few have seen it in action like Noah.
Trust between gymnast and coach is the trust that arises in sport. Coaches play a larger than average role in a gymnast’s success, and even teenage gymnasts immediately recognize the key role their coaches play in their development and success in competition.
You can bet Noah will do more than just trust his trainer from now on. Any future gymnastics career or life could be because a great coach worked the day he lost his grip at such a high level.
Since this was just a warm-up, she might not have gotten many viral accounts if Noah’s mom wasn’t in the photography business either. Thanks to his interest in his son’s burgeoning gymnastics plans, everyone can see Noah narrowly escape a bad fall.
