Ryan had a hard time describing his feelings of intimidation. She said she recently lost her father, grandfather, and aunt and was having a hard time dealing with her grief. The bullying left her very sad and depressed. She told her mother about the bullying.
When Ryan’s mother discovered the bullying, she immediately called Re’Onna’s parents to let them know their daughter’s completely unkind behavior. She said she didn’t know what to expect; In fact, she wasn’t expecting anything, because in her experience, most parents don’t seem to care that their kids are bullying other students.
The impetus in Randy’s approach to teaching Re’Onna a lesson was that he made her go on a shopping spree – except that she wasn’t allowed to shop, just watched Ryan run his errands. The party had two effects: the two girls got to know each other and Rhona realized how bad she was.
ABC’s Randy Strahan, Sarah and Kiki told that parents are responsible for their children’s behavior and it’s important that parents don’t try to be their child’s friends. In fact, this whole story shows the picture of good parenting: one parent discovered the bullying and reached out to the other parent, who immediately took action to correct the problem.
