Eastern Idaho News details that the couple’s son called 911 for help. Dakota tried to bring his wife back to life until firefighters and paramedics arrived.
After Dakota’s wife was left without oxygen to her brain for about half an hour, she fell into a coma that lasted a few weeks. Her body fell and she died with her husband beside her.
Dakota now had the daunting task of caring for her seven children on her own. The age of the children varies from 1 to 16 years old. While helping the older children with things around the house and with the younger ones, Dakota struggled as a single parent.
He works three jobs to make sure his children’s basic needs, such as food and clothing, are met, according to the Positive Expectations blog. As Christmas approached, he wasn’t quite sure how to get them presents until Secret Santa started collecting donations for his family.
