Amazon delivery driver John Cassabria was en route to Woburn when he saw what looked like a snout sticking out of a puddle at his stop. Luka, a 14-year-old Husky, struggled to stay above water. John did not hesitate to intervene.

“I jumped into the pool with everything on. Phone wallet watch. None of it mattered. I thought only of the dog at that moment,” Cassabria told WBZ-TV Boston.

It turns out that a bone wrapped around the cord of a pool vacuum cleaner could have tempted a dog to jump. Luka’s family was just hours after their vacation when they received a call from animal control and told them what had happened.

In the end, John sat with the dog for an hour and a half, waiting for the scheduled sitter to come. And he didn’t miss a beat as he got back to his Prime deliveries for the day! A real hero in the right place at the right time.
