We can all make friends in the unlikeliest of places and with the unlikeliest of people. However, no one could have been ready for what 2 1/2-year-old Isaiah and Kamoli, a young gorilla, would do when they met at the Columbus Zoo. It was fortunate that they were able to catch it on camera!
When Isaiah gets to the gorilla enclosure, he climbs onto the rocky area to get a better view of the little gorilla his size: Kamoli. Another gorilla, maybe Kamoli’s parent, watches not far away.
Suddenly Kamoli decides to get up and walk to the other side of a tree-like pillar, blocking Isaiah’s view – but the little gorilla looks back at the boy, as if to see if he’s following. Isaiah’s family encourages him to follow, and so ensues a short chase, back and forth to each side of the tree.
Isaiah laughs in joy as he runs after the gorilla. This adorable game of peek-a-boo shows how kids can be friends and play a fun game together no matter the species. What an energetic, adorable pair!
