Have you ever been walking along, minding your own business, when you hear a strange sound that catches you off guard? You look around to see where the noise is coming from, but its source is nowhere to be seen.
That’s what happened to some visitors to the Cultural Centre in Araras, Brazil. They were touring the grounds when they heard what sounded like muffled meowing, but they couldn’t figure out where the noises were coming from.
They searched high and low, and eventually realized the cries were coming from beneath the ground. A kitten was trapped under the floor!
Even though some people said the kitten should just be ignored and left to die, a group of local people banded together, determined not to let that happen. They brought in a worker from a local utility company who carefully drilled through the tile with a jackhammer and pulled away the debris, trying to find the kitten.
It took some time, but finally, after drilling through a pipe, he was able to reach the tiny black, brown, and white kitten.
But as he lifted the kitten to safety, he heard more cries coming from below ground and realized this kitten had siblings!
He continued to dig and eventually four tiny kittens were lifted to safety!
