In the face of adversity, it’s often the little things that matter the most. For Kent Hightower, that meant fulfilling his mother’s dying wish to attend his wedding, despite her ALS diagnosis.

Hightower’s mother had been waiting for two significant events in her life before passing away, the birth of her granddaughter and her son’s wedding. With her granddaughter now six or seven months old, Hightower was determined to make her second wish come true.

In the days leading up to the wedding, Hightower struggled to choose the right song for their mother-son dance. Eventually, he settled on Thomas Finchum’s “Mothers,” a local artist’s track that struck the perfect note.

The resulting video captures a beautiful moment between a son and his mother, as Hightower and his father help his mom out of her chair and onto the dance floor. As the dance progresses, all of her children join in, surrounding their beloved mother as she tears up in her chair.

Sadly, just one week later, Hightower’s mother passed away. But her legacy lives on, as evidenced by the outpouring of love and support from those who knew her.

“We had a last call for mom over the radio that went through the hospital. Everybody in the hospital heard it. We had a flyover from LifeFlight, MedEvac. You know, everybody knew her. She changed so many lives,” Hightower said. “It’s incredible. I can’t even begin to scratch the surface on how many people she impacted in her life because she was impacting millions of people before I was even thought of.”

The video serves as a poignant reminder that life is short and precious, and that the little things we do for each other can make all the difference.
