In the Face of Adversity, the Little Things Matter: A Son’s Touching Tribute to His Ailing Mother
Kent Hightower’s mother had two final wishes before she passed away – to see her granddaughter and attend her son’s wedding. With her granddaughter now born, Hightower was determined to make her second wish come true despite her ALS diagnosis.
As the wedding day approached, Hightower struggled to choose the perfect song for the mother-son dance. After much consideration, he decided on a local artist’s track called “Mothers,” which struck just the right chord.
The resulting video captured a touching moment between a son and his mother, as Hightower and his father assisted her out of her chair and onto the dance floor. As the dance progressed, her other children joined in, encircling their beloved mother as tears filled her eyes.
Tragically, just one week later, Hightower’s mother passed away. However, her legacy lives on, as evidenced by the outpouring of love and support from those who knew her.
“We had a last call for mom over the radio that went through the hospital. Everybody in the hospital heard it. We had a flyover from LifeFlight, MedEvac. You know, everybody knew her. She changed so many lives,” Hightower said. “It’s incredible. I can’t even begin to scratch the surface on how many people she impacted in her life because she was impacting millions of people before I was even thought of.”
