In a world where women are often expected to conform to certain beauty standards, Eldina Jaganjac, a 31-year-old tutor from Copenhagen, Denmark, decided to break the mold.
In March of 2020, Jaganjac made the bold decision to stop shaving her face, including her eyebrows and upper lip hair.

Jaganjac was tired of the societal pressures placed upon women, especially when it came to men being able to move freely without fear of judgment. She felt frustrated with the double standards and decided to take a stand by defying traditional beauty standards.

Despite initial concerns, Jaganjac found that her decision to stop shaving made no difference in how she felt about herself.

In fact, she felt just as feminine regardless of the “extra” hair on her body. Inspired by Frida Kahlo, Jaganjac embraced her natural appearance and found a new sense of confidence.
However, not everyone was supportive of Jaganjac’s decision. As she went about her daily life in Denmark, she was subjected to rude comments and stares from strangers who were not used to seeing a woman with unshaven facial hair. Men would often make comments like “pluck that” or stare at her eyebrows as if she had a “third head”.

Despite the negativity, Jaganjac remained confident in her decision to stop shaving. She refused to let the opinions of others dictate how she chose to present herself. For her, the decision to stop shaving was not just about embracing her natural appearance but also about challenging societal expectations placed upon women.

Jaganjac’s story serves as a reminder that women should not have to conform to any particular beauty standards.
Society’s expectations can be harmful, and it takes individuals like Jaganjac to break the mold and inspire others to embrace their natural beauty.
While it may not be easy to defy traditional standards, it is important to remember that everyone deserves to feel confident in their own skin, regardless of what others may think or say.
