In September 2017, Beth Chapman, the beloved mother of the Bounty Hunter dog band, was diagnosed with stage 2 throat cancer. Sadly, she passed away on June 26. Duane was hospitalized in September after experiencing heart complications.

However, he has told people that he has been feeling better since the ordeal, at least as far as his health is concerned. Of course, he still misses his wife very much. When he opened up about the event, he said he would never be the same emotionally again. He said the loss took a piece of his heart. However, he said it should still be as strong as “Daddy and the Dog”.
