The 12-year-old boy and his mother were entering a store when they heard the baby crying inside the car, they looked inside and saw the car locked and the baby trapped inside.
The heat index for the day was as high as 116 degrees according to Fox 23, so the boy and his mother didn’t think to break into the car to save the baby.
He grabbed a metal belt and used it to start smashing the car window, eventually moving to the windshield where he was able to make even bigger slashes.
He was able to stomp on the windshield more before he could get in to unlock the car and free the child.
The news station reported that the child was doing well, despite the flushing of the face due to the high temperatures. Police came to the scene and found the child’s mother inside the shoe store where they fined her and decided not to arrest her for neglecting her child.
