Seeking to encourage Jesse’s initiative, Jesse’s mother, Jennifer, created a Facebook page for people in their community to connect with Jesse’s family and ask for help with lawn care. Given Page’s success and Jesse’s unwavering commitment to the project, he hopes to reach his goal of mowing 50 grasses by the end of October.

In an interview with Newsner, Jesse’s mother explained,

“He likes to do it. Just because he feels good about himself doing it, like giving back to someone, so I feel good because he makes him happy.”

As Jesse himself explained, the 9-year-old is well aware of the bad situation some adults find themselves in. It is to explain :

“Some people, they can’t mow the lawn, and they have to hire someone to do it. I do it for free.”

As Jesse makes amazing strides in his community, he also learns the positive impact the selfless work of others has on his life. It is to explain:

Someone said, ‘This is the best my garden has ever seen. Then the other person said, ‘My garden looks really good, thank you. ”

At a time when societies may feel more disconnected than ever, 9-year-old Jesse Ward has taken it upon himself to mow the lawn of the elderly and disabled veterans of his community. This lively story affected both Jesse’s community and Jesse himself, earning him praise nationwide.
